Cooking

California Blonde

Bring 4 ½ cups of water to a rolling boil. Add a full bag of Planet Rice (22 oz/4g).
Stir, cover tightly and reduce heat to low. Let simmer for 20 minutes.
Don’t peek! Fluff prior to serving.

Just you and a friend?
Use 2 cups of rice to 3 cups of water.

California Calrose

1 cup of uncooked rice
1 ¼ cup water

Bring water to a rolling boil, add rice, stir thoroughly, cover tightly, then reduce heat to low and simmer covered for 30 minutes. Don’t peek! Perfect rice takes patience!
Fluff rice prior to serving.

Organic Sprouted Brown

Add 2 cups of Power Blend and 2 ¾ cups of water to a pot.
Bring to a boil & reduce heat to a simmer.
Cover for 25 minutes ( or until water is completely absorbed).
No peeking! Perfect rice takes patience!

Add 2 cups of Power Blend and 2 ¾ cups of water to a pot.
Bring to a boil & reduce heat to a simmer.

Add 2 cups of Sprouted Brown and 2 ¾ cups of water to a pot.
Bring to a boil & reduce heat to a simmer.

According to USA Rice, U.S.-grown rice does not require washing or rinsing before cooking because it is a clean, high-quality product. A brief rinse with cold water will do just fine. If you have a bit more time, rinsing the rice and then soaking for ½ an hour or more will make the rice even softer and fluffier.

For California Blonde, the ratio is 2 cups of rice to 3 cups of water.

For California Calrose, the ratio is 2 cups of rice to 2 ½ cups of water.

For Organic Sprouted Brown, Power Blend and Sprouted Brown, the ratio is 2 cups of rice to 2 ¾ cups of water.

For California Calrose, Organic Sprouted Brown, Power Blend, and Sprouted Brown the shelf life is 1 year. For California Blonde the shelf life is 6 months.

The best way to store Planet Rice is to keep it in an airtight storage container in a cool, dark, dry place.

USA Rice does recommend refrigerator or freezer storage for longer shelf life.

You may have found some adobe, which is a natural clay involved in rice processing. We use state of the art technology including screens, de-stoners and color sorters to maintain the highest quality control but still recommend thoroughly rinsing your rice before cooking for the best results and flavor. If ingested, it is not dangerous but may taste gritty.

While we don’t have exact GI values for our products, white rice has an average glycemic index of 89 for a 150g serving, brown rice has 50, and quinoa (found in our Power Blend) has 53. Glycemic load per serving on average is 43 for white rice, 16 for brown rice, and 13 for quinoa. (Source: Oregon State University)

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a highly beneficial amino acid found in foods like peaches, green snap beans, and rice. Studies indicate that increasing GABA intake may help with: promoting calmness, lowering anxiety, lowering blood pressure, and improving cardiovascular function. Sprouted brown rice has four times the GABA content of regular brown rice and over ten times the GABA of white rice – so all products have it, but in varying amounts.

The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (FALCPA) identified eight foods as major food allergens: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans. Our products are not manufactured on equipment that processes those allergens, nor are any of these allergens in our products.
